How to Become a CA After the 12th?

The controller of financials of a company and other segments, a Chartered Accountant’s (CA) job is full of challenges. However, it is a fascinating career option for many students for the financial gains and popularity it brings. Most Commerce students aspire to take up this career option. As a CA, you have immense control over the financials of a company, along with other sectors. The positions can be several – a Tax Accountant, Budget Analyst, a Financial Analyst, Financial Accountant, or a Management Accountant, or an Auditor. These are only some of the positions held by a CA.

The eligibility and process eligibility criteria and the process to become a CA

Here’s the eligibility criteria and the process therein to become a CA

  • You must have cleared the 10+2 or senior secondary examination
  • You can appear for the CA Foundation exam after you clear your 12th
  • You can now enroll in the CA Foundation course
  • This course spans 4 months of study, which you must complete
  • After you clear the CA Foundation exam, you must enroll in the CA Intermediate course
  • You must complete a 4-week Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS) before you start your articleship
  • Next, you must complete the 8-month study period for the CA Intermediate course and then give your CA Intermediate exam
  • There are two exams in the CA Intermediate, and you have to clear at least one of them to move to the next level
  • Now, after you pass the CA Intermediate exam and complete ICITSS, you have to join a 3-year articleship training
  • After you complete this successfully, you have to clear the pending group of the CA Intermediate exam
  • Once you clear both groups, you have to complete a 4-week Advanced Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (AICITSS)
  • Next, you appear for your CA final exam
  • After you clear this final exam, you have to enroll at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI)

Enrolling at the ICAI is important to be designated to be a CA. Hence, this is your last and final step to attain your goal.
