Q 1: Is it possible to correct the online application form that I submitted?

Ans: After you submit your application form online and wish to make any corrections to the details you provided, you can go to the official NTA website and do the needful.

Q 2: Is it possible to add more sessions (session 1 or session 2 of 2024) while the correction window is made available?

Ans: Yes, you can add session 2 along with the session you’ve already chosen while filling out the application when the correction window is available. You will also have to pay the fee for this session 2 while doing so.

Q 3: Is it possible to remove a selected session (session 2 of 2024) while the correction window is made available?

Ans: Yes, you can do it, but you will not get a refund of the fee for the removed session.

Q 4: Is it possible to interchange sessions while the correction window is made available?

Ans: No, you cannot interchange any sessions at any time.

Q 5: Is it possible to add more papers, i.e., Paper 1, 2A, 2B, while the correction window is made available?

Ans: Yes, you can add more papers during this period, and you also need to pay the fee for the added papers if applicable.

Q 6: Is it possible to remove a selected paper while the correction window is made available?

Ans: Yes, you can do so. You can even add a selected paper during this period with an extra fee (if applicable) for the same. However, do note that you will not get a refund of the fee paid for the removed paper.

Q 7: I did not apply for session 1. However, is it still possible to apply for session 2?

Ans: Yes, you can apply for the next session in case you’ve missed out on filling out the application for the current January session. You can do this at the time of opening the portal for the next session.

Q 8: Can I cancel my application for the JEE Mains 2024?

Ans: No, once you’ve submitted your application, you cannot withdraw or cancel it.

Q 9: Which score is considered in the compilation of results and preparation of the merit list/ranking?

Ans: You can appear in one or both the sessions. An NTA score will be awarded to you in each of these sessions based on your performance, and the best score will be considered for the results and the merit list/ranking.

Q 10: Is there any negative marking in the JEE (Main)2024?

Ans: Yes, there is. Section A will consist of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs), and Section B will include numerical value questions. In Section B, you must attempt any five questions out of 10. There will be negative markings for both the sections A and B.

Q 11: What is the cutoff of the JEE Mains?

Ans: The minimum marks needed to qualify for the next round of the admission process are considered the JEE Mains cutoff. The participating institutes determine this, and it is different for each institute.

Q 12: What is considered a good percentile?

Ans: Generally, it is 65% or above, but this is different, according to the institute and category.

Q 13: Is there a 100 percentile in this exam?

Ans: Yes, there is a 100 percentile and students who top the exam acquire a 100 percentile.

Q 14: How many marks are required to be in the top 10 in this exam?

Ans: You must score at least 280 and above to be slotted in the top 10.

Q 15: Is it possible to change the medium for the examination on the day of the exam?

Ans: Yes, you can change the medium for the exam on the day itself. For example, if you opted for English while filling out your application and wish to change it to any other language, you can do so on the exam day.

Q 16: Is a thumb impression mandatory while filling out the application?

Ans: Uploading a thumb impression while applying for the JEE Mains 2024 is not compulsory..

Q 17: Does the NTA decide the center in a city that is given in Annexure I?

Ans: The NTA tries to allot exam centers according to the choice of cities that you’ve mentioned in your online application. However, at times, a different city may be allotted due to logistic or administrative reasons.

Q 18: Does the NTA allot a center manually?

Ans: No, the NTA does not do so.

Q 19: What happens if the JEE Mains 2024 exam dates clash with a State or National level exam?

Ans: The NTA will check into this and fix the issue according to the availability of exam dates.

Q 20: Can a candidate submit multiple applications with the same Email ID and mobile number?

Ans: No, this is not possible. The mobile number and Email ID are specific and unique to each application.
